Design of a chairlift valley station

For the renewal of an existing chairlift in the province of Salzburg, Christoph recently worked out three different design variants, in the form of colored hand sketches.

As requested by the client, these were mainly designed for steel construction. However, a Mösl cannot do without wood entirely – and therefore wood also found its place on parts of the façade.

Between the panels on the steel structure are narrow circumferential bands of windows that interrupt the facade in certain areas in order to bring more light into the building at defined points depending on the situation.

Christoph would provide the building with a good lighting concept that illuminates it from the inside and at night sets off the surrounding windows very nicely. You could play with the client’s corporate colors or achieve countless moods with a color change.

The piste-bully garage, located in the basement, would be nice to cover with a lamellar facade of wood, to complement a “warm” and “grounding” part of the building.

This variant would be a steel structure with a perimeter and continuous glass facade.

In front of this, Christoph imagines a perforated sheet façade that lets light into the building through interruptions.

By the number, size and position of the holes, in combination with good interior lighting, you can form almost any pattern or image.

Lighting concept as already described for variant 1.

He wants the combination of the sheet metal parts and windows to mimic rocks / glaciers, with the windows having the effect of the rock or glacier crevasses.

The idea would be to completely glaze selected side walls, place a visible steel truss behind them and fully showcase it.

The roof runs seamlessly into the southern side wall and wraps itself protectively over the building like a cloak.

Towards the top station, the roof rises and runs parallel to the ropeway.

Lighting concept as described for variants 1 and 2.

The stripes on the south facade, you could also equip in the company colors and illuminate at night.
