THE NEW WORLD OF THE DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION SITE

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING

The year 2024 promises to be an exciting time full of innovation and technological advances, especially in the construction industry. In our next newsletter, we would like to introduce you to a pioneering method that is revolutionizing the way we plan, design and manage buildings.

m3-ZT GmbH - Your civil engineers in the city and province of Salzburg
m3-ZT GmbH – Viewing designs in virtual reality

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is more than just a method for modeling buildings in 3D. It is a holistic process for creating and managing information for a building throughout its entire life cycle. Through an intelligent model that can be activated anytime, anywhere on a cloud platform, BIM integrates structured data to create a digital twin of an object – from planning and design to construction and operation.

Advantages:

1. virtual reality plans – see in VR!
Enter your future building even before it is built! Our plans can be viewed using VR glasses to give you as realistic an insight as possible right from the start. Changes can be viewed live and decisions are easier to make. Make decisions before you start building and get off to a relaxed start!

2. exact determination of the construction costs!
Billing according to measurements, the scope of which is only determined after the building work has been completed, is a thing of the past. Thanks to the wealth of information that flows into our advanced plans, quantities can be precisely defined in advance and construction costs can be determined.

3. shorter construction time & lower construction costs!
Precise planning principles also enable a high degree of prefabrication, accelerate the construction time, thus requiring fewer working hours and therefore ensuring lower construction costs.

4. availability of data!
All relevant data is stored on a shared database and constantly synchronized, which ensures immediate and continuous availability for all parties involved. The data can be used for the entire life cycle of the building, including in facility management. If, for example, the façade needs to be repainted, you can immediately see how much surface area is affected and how much paint is needed!

5th digital construction meeting!
In future, construction meetings can also be held digitally, especially as the model can be walked through virtually. This enables an improved exchange of information between those involved in planning, which leads to smoother collaboration and a faster and more cost-effective decision-making process.

PV COMPANY BUILDING

How do we implement this?

In the first step, our drone pilot flies over the site or existing building, from which a true-to-scale digital twin is modeled. A 3D laser scan is also used for existing buildings. Further planning is created and embedded in this model. Surfaces and materials are largely defined during the planning stage and selected using a video or VR technology. In the next step, we draw up precise tender documents and run through the construction process with the contractors using individual sub-steps in the digital model. So everyone always knows where the journey should take them! Subsequent invoicing is based on the planned dimensions, which are fixed from the outset – so we can maintain a high level of price certainty.
