HOME BAVARIA

LIVING ON SEVERAL FLOORS IN A SPECIAL HILLSIDE LOCATION

WOOD ECOLOGY AND STEPPED FLOOR PLAN

Extra brainpower was required for the planning of this single-family home in Bavaria / Mengkofen – because the hillside location required overcoming a 6 to 7 meter height difference. At the same time, houses on special slopes often look quite high and clunky – the slope is supported by very high retaining walls.
Our requirement was to adapt the building to its surroundings and not vice versa.

In collaboration with interior designer Markus Kastl, this house, stepped into the environment, was then created.
Christoph Mösl was responsible for the building architecture, division of functions and technical functionality – Markus Kastl for interior design, lighting design and furnishing.

ROOM CONCEPT
3 levels, staggered. From the bottom up, it becomes more and more private.
The idea was to offset the levels of the house so that it hugs the hillside like a staircase, adapting to its surroundings. Automatic zoning of the garden at different levels and areas, is an equally great advantage.

On the ground floor, which is mainly underground, are the serving rooms such as garage, engineering and storage.

A staircase leads up to the middle or main floor. Here functions such as living, kitchen, office and guest toilet find its place.
Going one level higher, it becomes even more private with the bedrooms and sanitary rooms: 2 children’s rooms with children’s bathrooms and a parents’ suite are housed here. The suite with its own large closet and bathroom lives up to its name, as it also has a large terrace with a private garden area.
The same goes for the children – they also have their own large terrace – this is located on the flat roof of the living area. View included.
However, this is guaranteed by all 3 levels.

TECHNOLOGY AND ECOLOGY
Everything in the ground is concreted. From a height of 40-50 cm – dry above the ground – wood shows its full strengths as a CO2-neutral and comfortable building material . Here, too, we have chosen a wooden structure with continuous standing and untreated larch wood formwork. Genuine larch wood windows complete the ecological housing.
Inside you will find high quality solid wood furniture, floors and doors.

The heating system is an air source heat pump combined with a tiled stove .
